Pro Sibiria e.V. – Partnership with Siberia
Since 2003 pro Sibiria e.V. is a society
continuing work within a larger framework, formerly deriving from the German
society “Itenmen e.V.” relating to a regionally more limited emphasis (relief
projects for Kamchatka) which formed up ten years ago. We, as a group of Siberians, Siberia-experts
and -enthusiasts are coming together from all over Germany under a new
society’s name in order to expand its regional activity as well as its
content.
Pro Sibiria e.V. aims at contributing to sustainable changes in Siberia,
Northern Russia and also the Far East towards a favourable agreement to social
climate and ecologically compatible development. We establish ourselves principally for the improvement of living
standards of the local population, especially in remote areas. This population
is often comprised of many disadvantaged minor ethnic groups.
Financial resources, which are available through sorts of project sponsors, are
strengthening and allowing a continuous work of initiatives that have emerged
from committed locals. The substantial goals are for example the improvement of
social living conditions, the reconstitution, the preservation and the
protection of natural habitats, the promotion of culture in different fields,
supporting the initiatives’ ideas of economic sovereignty in regions affected
by unemployment and poverty, the encouragement of equality between men and
women.
Besides providing aids abroad, pro Sibiria e.V. is also
rendering public related and educational services in Germany. We furnish information regarding the living
conditions of the people in Siberia and inform of the cultural and social
development within the regions of our project partners. All the society members are working in an
honorary capacity.
